“Pit Bulls” are considered by many as aggressive and dangerous.

The facts are that there has NEVER been a breed of dogs called “Pit Bulls”. The term actually originated in England in the 1800s and was used to describe dogs that were used for dog fighting.  These dogs were not typically of a single breed, but were mostly mixed breeds that had been developed and trained for dog fighting.

The term “Pit Bulls” has endured because selling a mixed breed or “mutt” is virtually impossible, but if you call it a “Pit Bull”, you are more likely to find a purchaser since most buyers have little or no knowledge about dog breeds and/or can correctly identify the breed.

When all those who are making money off of “Pit Bulls”, like media, so-called “back-yard and/or other “breeders” (actually propagators), lawyers, judges, politicians, etc. continue to disseminate incorrect stories about so-called “Pit Bulls”, it is not surprising that a major portion of the public believes the fake media and their stories.

The following are real breeds that are recognized by the American Kennel Club (“AKC”), i.e., an amalgamation of over 5,000 U.S. kennel clubs and the most respected kennel club in the world. These dogs as well as mixed “breeds”, also known as “mutts”, are frequently called American Pit Bull Terriers, American Bully Dogs, etc. and are frequently and incorrectly misidentified as “Pit Bulls”.

The “Ranks” are the popularity of the breeds according to the AKC. “Foundation Stock Service” service means that this is a new breed that is being developed.  A written “breed standard” has been written and recorded with the AKC, and the AKC is recording the development of the new breed.

With so many breeds of dogs and mutts being identified as “Pit Bulls”, it is little wonder that so-called “Pit Bulls” have such a bad reputation when every other dog is incorrectly being labeled as a “Pit Bull”, especially when it has been involved in a misadventure.
