7.8. Are American Staffordshire Terriers So-Called “Pit Bulls”?

Semyonova states,

The fiction that, for example, the American Staffordshire terrier is a different dog from the pit bull,  just because the breeding has (also fictionally, by the way) been going on separately for several decades is just that:  a fiction.

Where are the citations for studies and/or objective data that support these statements?

The following organizations disagree with Semyonova.  This list is only a very partial list and does not include all of the organizations throughout the world that recognize American Staffordshire Terriers as a breed, but do not recognize so-called “Pit Bulls” as a breed.

  • Fédération Cynologique Internationale – International
  • American Kennel Club
  • Australian National Kennel Council
  • Canadian Kennel Club
  • The Kennel Club – England
  • New Zealand Kennel Club
