16.5. Myth – “Pit Bulls” Bite More People
Than Any Other Breed

Based on our first-hand experience with dogs that are commonly and incorrectly referred to as “Pit Bulls” and our research, we disagree.

If every large dog, other breed, mixed-breed and/or mutt is mislabeled as a “Pit Bull”, then this is probably true, but erroneous.

For fact based information, see http://pitbullsfactormyth.net/16-5-1-breed-identification/, http://pitbullsfactormyth.net/16-5-2-can-you-identify-the-pit-bulls/http://pitbullsfactormyth.net/16-6-1-canine-aggression-tests/ and  http://pitbullsfactormyth.net/16-6-2-temperament-tests/.

We have rescued sixteen (16) American Staffordshire Terriers and Staffordshire Bull Terriers and numerous mutts that are typically referred to as “Pit Bulls” and have yet to have one bite us. Our experience with them exceeds 100 dog-years, i.e., a dog-year being sheltering one dog for one year, since we started keeping records.

We have never had any dog in our care attack or bite anyone.
