17.0. Breed Standards – Abbreviated
The “breed standards” in their entirety from the American Kennel Club (“AKC”) for American Staffordshire Terriers, the American Dog Breeders Association, Inc. (“ADBA”) and the United Kennel Club (“UKC”) for American Pit Bull Terriers, and the American Bully Kennel Club (“ABKC”) for American Bullys are found at the website addresses that follow. However, the following selected highlighted items are for comparison in the table that follows.
Pertinent details of the following are summarized in the table that follows. The breed standards at the time I originally did this portion of my document are found in their entirety at the end of this document: however, many changes have been made since then. For example, in 2015, the American Dog Breeders Association stopped registering American Staffordshire Terriers as American Pit Bull Terriers and declared the American Staffordshire Terriers to be a distinct breed. http://www.adbadog.com/p_pdetails.asp?fpid=795&pg=795 The links that follow are to the original documents and not to the current ones.
How can you have “breed standards” that change if they define the breed of a dog, i.e., what it is?
