18.4.3. United Kennel Club (“UKC”)
The United Kennel Club has its listing of “breeds” that can be registered with them at http://www.ukcdogs.com/Web.nsf/WebPages/Registration/BreedStandards. A very large percentage are not “breeds” recognized by the universally recognized and accepted kennel clubs. In addition, unlike all generally recognized and accepted kennel clubs, the United Kennel Club does NOT have photographs of each breed of dog that it recognizes, other than the “Bullys”. Instead, the United Kennel Club has drawings of the dogs. Obviously, the details on a drawing will not approach the details on a good photograph, and consequently, adhering to those “standards” is going to be much easier if you are comparing to a drawing. However, more dogs will be able to meet that “standard”, and the United Kennel Club will make more money.
