16.4. Myth – “Pit Bulls” Bite With 1,600 Pounds of Pressure
When Dr. Brady Barr of National Geographic tested bite pressures, the following were recorded:
A human can bite to a maximum force of about 127 lbs.
“Pit Bull” bite was 235 lbs.
German Shepherd bite was 238 lbs.
Wild Dogs bite was 317 lbs.
Rottweiler bite was 328 lbs.
Great White Shark bite was 669 lbs.
Lion bite was very close to 691 lbs.
Hyena’s bite was 1000 lbs.
Snapping Turtle bite was 1004 lbs.
Nile Crocodile bite was 2500 lbs.
