12.0. Breeds
Throughout this document the words “breed” and “breeds”are used. In many cases, the words have a colloquial definition ascribed to the word.
The definition of colloquial refers to words or expressions used in ordinary language by common people.
Conversely, “breed” is a technical term that has a very specific meaning, and is recognized and accepted by governing bodies.
Consequently, while the words may be used in communications, frequently they do not convey the meaning intended and/or the parties do not assign the intended meanings to the words.
“Pit Bulls” are frequently and incorrectly referred to as a “breed”. In fact, they are not because they do not comply with the real meaning of the word. Consequently, “Pit Bulls” is a colloquial expression.
